2009 was a great year for DRIVEN with the opening of the DRIVEN Clinic.  We are coming up to the one year anniversary of the Clinic and are in the process of planning a celebration for that milestone.

The question now is how do we move from a one day per week clinic to our end goal of a permanent, full-time co-located clinic of services in Durham?

In addition to continuing on with the current clinic, the DRIVEN Steering Committee focus in 2010 will be to direct our time and attention to grant applications and other activities aimed at moving the initiative closer to our end goal. For this reason we will not be holding routine monthly community meetings as in past years. Instead, we will update everyone on DRIVEN activities via periodic emails.  You can also go to the website at wwwdurhamdriven.com.

Although we won’t be hosting monthly meetings, we definitely WILL be holding an annual forum again this year! We’ll keep you posted as to the date and other details.

P.S. Please remember that you can refer clients to us at any time. Although the co-located staff are only on site at the clinic on Mondays, clients can call the DRIVEN number any day of the week to book an appointment for the next Monday, or they can just walk-in that day. They can choose to access all or any of the following; immediate crisis counseling, nurse support, have injuries photographed and recorded for future use if desired, meet with the police, connect with the CAS, make appointments for longer-term 1:1 and/or group counseling for self or children, get referral and application assistance connecting with off-site services such as housing, Ontario Works and legal aid, speak with a lawyer, etc.
